WHICH DERBY?
Derby is a familiar name in all horse racing countries. The age group or distance in which the race is run varies from country to country. What is common is that horse owners or breeders pay a significant part of the prize pool as entry fees. In addition, Vermo pays breeders an additional breeder premium.
Finland's first Derby was run in Käpylä in 1970. In the other Nordic countries, the roots of warm-blooded Derby go much further. Started in Denmark as early as 1898, in Sweden and Norway in the early 1900s. In Vermo, the first Derby was held in 1978.
